Terra Nova Nurseries introduces new Echinacea

Terra Nova Nurseries has announced today its brand-new Echinacea PRIMA™ ‘Berry.’ The vibrant new variety has dark berry-pink petals that are long and draping, causing it to be reminiscent of a gorgeous, formal dress. The plant boasts the largest flowers that the Terra Nova breeders have seen on such a tight and compact habit.

Echinacea PRIMA ‘Berry’ blooms the first year with numerous flowers and is well branched with multiple crowns. This new addition to the Echinacea PRIMA™ Collection is ideal for containers at retail and in residential gardens, and it presents immense landscape value for borders, mixed beds and mass plantings.

A long bloom time can be expected June through October from this colorful coneflower, which provides a variety of special uses, including being a lovely cut flower and an effective pollinator attractor. It is also deer-resistant, fragrant and requires low-water usage.

U.S.D.A Hardiness Zones for Echinacea PRIMA ‘Berry’ are 4-9, and its exposure calls for full sun. This deciduous perennial grows fast, desires course and slightly mineral soil when planted in gardens and likes to be kept moderately dry between waterings during finishing time in greenhouses. It has a finish time to 4” of 6-8 weeks and a finish time to a gallon of 12-14 weeks. PRIMA ‘Berry’ has a height of 14”, width of 24” and a flower height of 18”.

Terra Nova Nurseries has created a “Plant Profile” page and “Grower Recipe” specific to this new variety, so growers interested in orders can learn about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements, and other insights provided by the breeding team.
