Spraying company R. van der Horst and Agro Active merge:

"We started talking when working together on a large project"

With a firm handshake, Kris Kort and Ren van der Horst recently ratified the merger between Agro Active and Spuitbedrijf R. van der Horst. At HortiContact, customers and business contacts were able to find out more about the merger of the tube painting companies. Notably, at the previous edition of HortiContact, Spuitbedrijf R. van der Horst also had news. EK Coatings had just been taken over at that time.

"We were working together on a large greenhouse project that we couldn't handle separately," explains Ren van der Horst regarding the eventual merger. "That's why we decided to work together. That project ultimately did not go ahead, but we continued our cooperation." Kris adds: "For a long time, we worked together on larger projects. That is how we got talking. Now we have decided that it would be better if we really continued working together."

Since 1 April, the team of Agro Active has performed its painting work under the flag of Spuitbedrijf R. van der Horst. Kris: "For us, it means that we scale up. Our customers are already used to it. In the coming time, we will also get to know the customers of Van der Horst."

The brand and products of Megadeck will also come along. Ren: "We are going to compare our products and judge them on price and quality. After that, we will decide what we will keep in the assortment. So there are only advantages for the customer."

An additional advantage of the merger is that Kris will join the team in Poeldijk to take over Wim van der Voort's tasks. Wim is going to take it a little easier. Brian Rijgersberg has been responsible for the production hall in Poeldijk, where the tubes are primed for use. Kris will supervise the painting work on the projects and will, in cooperation with Wim, take on sales and customer relations management. Here lies a new role for Wim to bring his knowledge and advice to the attention of our customers. "In this way, we strengthen our strength as well as our advisory role towards the customer. There is a demand for this. With this division of roles, we can fulfill this well."

In addition to extra capacity, the merger offers even more opportunities. "Now that we have come together, we haven't run out of plans—quite the opposite. We also want to serve horticulture in a different way, and we have plenty of ideas about an even broader range. However, I am not going to say anything about that just yet. We will surprise everyone with it," Kris smiles knowingly.
