Six generations of passion
The new video shows the past, present, and future in stunning cinematic images. Six generations of passion and forward-thinking have gone into growing this company into one of the world's leading Hydrangea paniculata growers. The Schoemaker family has been growing plants at the same nursery in Boskoop, The Netherlands, since 1800. Carrying on the heritage, Alex Schoemaker acquired the family company in 2003. While respecting the family tradition, he brought a new spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship to the enterprise. Building on the past to grow a future-proof company. He launched a large-scale research and breeding operation in 2010. His efforts have now paid off with a new Hydrangea paniculata collection that is better than ever before. While much has changed over the past 220 years, one thing remains the same: Schoemaker's passion for perfection keeps growing.
Breeding excellence
The new Hydrangea paniculata collection is the result of more than a decade of state-of-the-art breeding and development. Living Creations founder Alex Schoemaker works in close collaboration with breeding specialist Leo Slingerland who has more than 40 years of experience as a scientist studying and improving plant breeding. Alex met Leo when they worked together on a project in association with Wageningen University that studied potential ways to grow stronger and more beautiful plants. After completing the project, Leo took up a position with Living Creations and has been with the company ever since.
Still growing strong
The story of Living Creations doesn't end with the new best-in-class Hydrangea paniculata collection. The next breakthrough could be growing in the Living Creations test center right now. Alex Schoemaker: 'Every day, we work to create even better plants. We conduct ongoing research into Hydrangeas that set a new quality standard. The world is changing, and our Hydrangeas are changing in tandem. That's why we're exploring Hydrangeas in our test center that can withstand hotter summers and promote greater biodiversity. In this way, we help nature meet the challenges and demands of the 21st century. So we keep growing and developing with our focus on the future.
