Breeder reveals new Bergenia Variety

Terra Nova Nurseries has unveiled its brand-new Bergenia VINTAGE™ ‘Rose.’ This alluring new addition to the VINTAGE™. The rich moss-green leaves deepen in the winter and add a beautiful burgundy halo around the edges of the foliage.

Bergenia VINTAGE ‘Rose’ grows with a clumping habit, making it a fantastic evergreen for mass plantings, containers, banks, mixed beds, and the fronts of borders. This new elephant’s ear features a wide range of special uses, such as being deer resistant and well-suited for the American deep South; it also requires low water usage and offers a beautiful winter color.

U.S.D.A Hardiness Zones for Bergenia VINTAGE ‘Rose’ are 4-9, and its exposure favors full sun and partial shade. This perennial blooms February through April with a moderate growth rate, most active during the spring. It also desires well-drained soil when planted in gardens and likes to be moderately dry between waterings during finishing time in greenhouses. The new VINTAGE ‘Rose’ has a height of 7”, width of 14” and flower height of 12”.

Terra Nova Nurseries has created a “Plant Profile” page and “Grower Recipe” specific to this new variety, so growers interested in orders can learn about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements, and other insights provided by the breeding team.
