Are you looking for an investment project? Maybe this 40+ years plant farm in Texas is something for you. "The current farm is a multi-million dollar gross earner and has the potential to double or triple those earnings. Additionally, expanding into cut flowers is easily attainable", says Jim Rusk, who is, together with his team, looking for investors to help with this endeavor. They have years of experience in growing all kinds of plants in their greenhouse.
Hanging baskets and landscaping plants
Rusk: "With many of our farms going under due to aged farmers, it's time for us younger farmers to step up and continue the tradition. A 40+-year-old farm that started out as a simple hanging basket grower expanded into a full-blown plant farm covered, growing not only hanging baskets but also into landscaping plants for homeowners and landscapers alike. Growing the plants on the farm for retail, but also shipping them across the State of Texas as a wholesaler to landscape companies and resellers who supplied to Home Depot and Lowes as well."
Automation
Jim Rusk and his team are planning to invest in automation first and are planning to add an Ellepot planting machine, which promotes faster, healthier rooting and helps to reduce labor costs and plastics use.
Expanding the farm into cut flower industry
The farmer who owns this property is looking to retire. He put in the work for 40-plus years and is looking to pass on his knowledge to a new owner. He has a head grower who has been with him for over 30 years who is willing to stay on and work for the new owner. And Jim Rusk and his team are looking to be that new owner to continue what has been built and also expand the farm into the cut flower industry as well. "The farm is set up with two wells and also a two-acre pond and a four-acre pond, so expanding into cut flowers is easily attainable."
