Kurt Becker, Dramm Corporation

"Poor water quality is responsible for higher labor, product shrink, chemical costs and missed ship dates"

It started back in the early 1940s in a basement with a florist and a gift for invention, developing a horticultural solution called the 400 Water Breaker. Nowadays, it is one of the biggest horticultural suppliers in North America, and their footprint outside the continent is growing too. It's Dramm Corporation we're talking about. Nine years ago, they started the special business unit DRAMMwater, to help growers with the growing issues surrounding water. "As water becomes more scarce, it will be recycled and need proper cleaning for reuse," Kurt Becker, Executive Vice President, tells us. "Since its inception, we've developed the ability to help growers with all of their water needs, not just treatment."

As greenhouse business grow and additions occur, water management becomes more important, Kurt says. "Poor water quality is responsible for higher labor, product shrink, chemical costs, and missed ship dates. DRAMMwater was formed to focus on providing solutions to the water management problems facing horticulture. We help with filtering and cleaning, but also pumping, storing, collecting, and managing your water systems."

The team with Dramm on the GreenTech 2022

Wide array of tools
Dramm Corporation, which is still family-owned and operated, originates from the US and has built up a strong customer base there. This year, the team with Dramm is also to be found at the upcoming IPM, and like the years prior to the pandemic, last year they were present at GreenTech as well. "As our products have only recently re-entered the European market strongly, many growers are unaware of the depth of our line and of many of our different watering tools," Kurt says. "Far beyond a standard offering, we offer a wide array of tools with different patterns and flow rates for all stages of growth and all types of plants."

To the show, they'll bring several new products, and over the last couple of years, due to the emerging virus and disease pressure, there's been special attention to tools ensuring clean, virus-free greenhouses. For example, there's the FOAM8L, a compression foamer producing a rich, aerated foam that slowly degrades over time, allowing for more contact time, and the TracFOG, a product of pulsFOG, which rapidly applies chemicals as a fog. "The ultra-fine cloud of droplets penetrates deep into the plant canopy covering all surfaces, ensuring excellent control of greenhouse pests and diseases."

The ribbon cutting ceremony last year. Read more about it here.

Due to the growth in their business and the steady expansion of the team, the company started working on a new Corporate Headquarters and Production Facility last year. In December, the festive ribbon-cutting ceremony took place with many friends and local community members.
