The shortage of air transport arrangements for flower shipments is one of the most vital obstacles in Iran's shipment of flowers and ornamental plants, as said by the chairman of the Flower Retailers' Association of Tehran.
"The lack of an air transport system for flower export is one of the most important challenges in this sector, so sometimes a passenger plane is used if the space is empty," Gholam-Hossein Soltan-Mohammadi stated, also mentioning that, "In general, sending flowers from the place of production to the final consumer is a relatively long and complicated path; Because sending cut flowers has its own subtleties that are still neglected in our country."
He stated aspects including peak air freight rates, issues associated with ground transportation from the cultivation site, as well as terminal, issues associated with amending the output and transportation schedule, and as an outcome, shortage of timely research of the output in line with the requirement of the customer, in addition to the individual entrance of Iranian shippers to worldwide markets and the shortage of recognition of shipment target markets as some additional major obstacles in the shipping of flowers and ornamental plants.
