US: Flowers still in top 3 gifts for Valentine's Day

Consumers are expected to spend $25.9 billion on Valentine's Day this year, up from $23.9 billion in 2022 and one of the highest spending years on record, according to the annual survey released by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics. When talking about flowers, they are ranked third on the list of top gifts, with 37% of the respondents planning to give flowers. The absolute top gifts include candy (57%) and greeting cards (40%), followed by flowers (37%), and then an evening out (32%), jewelry (21%), gift cards (20%), and clothing (19%).

As the leading authority and voice for the retail industry, NRF surveyed 7,616 U.S. adult consumers from January 3 through January 11. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.1 percentage points.
