Sérgio Pupo Nogueira Júnior passed away

On February 14, Sérgio Pupo Nogueira Júniro passed away at the age of 69.

Sérgio was a great enthusiast, promoter, and defender of the development of Brazilian floriculture, for the benefit of which he fought throughout his career.

He took the florist agenda to all states where the idea of “blooming” something was still considered! He was one of the founding members of the Brazilian Institute of Floriculture (IBRAFLOR) and its president from 1997 to 2005.

He was the creator and director of the construction of the Permanent Flower Market at Ceasa Campinas in 1994 and 1995, a milestone in the public wholesale of flowers and ornamental plants on the national scene. He also coordinated the first initiative to promote exports of Brazilian flowers through the FloraBrasilis Program, a result of the APEX / IBRAFLOR Agreement.

Among its numerous actions in favor of the sector, the publication of the first (Official) Quality Standard for Flowers and Ornamental Plants for the Brazilian market stands out, reflecting its tireless struggle for the permanent improvement of the quality, competence, and efficiency of the Productive Chain of Flowers and Ornamental Plants from Brazil.
