UK: Ellesmere Port florist shuts down shop due to 'astronomical running costs'

A florist has been forced to permanently shut down their shop and trade from home due to 'astronomical running costs.'

Blooming Lovely, which has been based in Whitby, Ellesmere Port, for over 11 years, admitted it was "an extremely difficult decision to make," but the business could no longer "absorb the costs" while maintaining its high levels of service.

They also said that footfall was in "massive decline." The shop will close for good on March 20, with the family-run business relocating to a studio at home, offering their usual service over the phone, website, or via email.

In a post on the florist's Facebook page, they said: "The huge rise in energy costs, the astronomical running costs of owning a shop, and buying the quality of flowers we insist on using means that we can no longer absorb the costs. We've tried to think of any way possible to make savings without cutting corners, and this is the only feasible way we can see."
