Simon Earley, Earley Ornamentals:

"Recent site investment enhances production capacity by 25%"

Enhancing the company's production capacity by 25%, one of the UK's leading independent young plant producers Earley Ornamentals, has completed the new building at its 12-acre site in Thirsk and has installed new filling and seeding lines, a germination chamber, and six automatic irrigation booms.

Earley Ornamentals Managing Director Simon Earley explains: "It's about ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality plant stock for our customers and become even more efficient in this changing commercial environment. This latest investment provides valuable production improvements, greater flexibility, and equipment to enhance automation and efficiency. Allowing us to grow and manage more products during the busiest growing period."

The recent completion of the new building has facilitated further development to optimize the production process and associated capacity. Simon continues: "Committed to ensuring the perfect growing environment and maintaining young plant uniformity, we've worked with a specialist supplier of horticultural machinery, Preston-based Rotomation UK, to get the right equipment installed to streamline production."

New filling line

The new building now houses the growing materials and the filling lines, including a new filling line.

The seeding department has been reworked for enhanced efficiency, with a new Urbinati seeding line installed, now bringing the total to four and creating 25% more production capacity.

New auto water booms

This extra capacity is also echoed in the germination section with another new germination chamber installed, of which there are now four. And in the Earley growing zones, six Urbinati irrigation booms have been fitted for automatic and scheduled watering. These robust new booms are designed to enhance the company's watering management program.

In addition, Earley Ornamentals has invested in two climate-controlled DAF CF 320 18-ton trucks, expanding its delivery fleet and providing even greater flexibility.
