September 15-17, 2023

IFEX Japan is now IFEX Kunming

From September 15 to 17, 2023, the International Flowers & Plants Expo (IFEX) will be held in Kunming, China. The show, formerly known as IFEX Japan, is a large-scale industry trade show in Asia for business promotion purposes, organized by RX(Reed Exhibitions), and is expected to attract over 30,000 distributors, wholesalers, traders, floral retailers, growers, and floral e-commerce players.

The last edition of the IFEX took place in 2019 in Tokyo, Japan, and this year, it will take place in Kunming, known as the biggest cut flower production and distribution center in China, at the Kunming Dianchi Lake International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Here the industry will present its products and services on an area of 50,000 square meters.

It is expected that 90% of Yunnan's large-scale growers will be present at the show. And besides the exhibitors, a range of activities will be organized where, for example, key topics that drive the industry development and floral trends will be discussed, like an international forum on plant protection of new Dutch varieties:

"Protection of new plant varieties is increasingly considered of great importance by governments around the world, and China's flower industry is facing problems such as the relatively small number of new flower varieties developed and retained, gaps in breeding technology systems, and the protection of new varieties and rights protection to be strengthened, etc. This forum will invite leaders and experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration to explain in detail the newly revised Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of New Plant Varieties. Experts from the Netherlands, Ecuador, Colombia, Kenya, Japan, Thailand, Israel, and other countries will be invited to share their national new plant variety protection measures, intellectual property policies and rights, and protection cases; exchange future policy trends on new plant variety protection; promote the development of domestic new varieties; and research and attract more foreign breeding enterprises to export new varieties."
