Greenhouse grower builds warehouse on a tight schedule

In 2021 Havecon had the opportunity to build a 2.4-hectare greenhouse for Boekestyn Greenhouses. In 2022 Havecon was asked to build a warehouse attached to this greenhouse. This was on the condition that Havecon's project manager Dean Starink would also supervise this project. And so it happened.

Boekestyn Greenhouses is a family business with a lot of experience in growing high-quality flowers and plants. Combined with its sales company, Florapack, Boekestyn Greenhouses is able to deliver high-quality products throughout North America. Together with the team of dedicated employees, Boekestyn Greenhouses fulfills its goal of "Enriching lives through the beauty of flowers and plants.

The relationship between Flora Pack - Boekestyn Greenhouses, and Havecon was established through the recommendation of Steve Boekestyn. During Steve's time at Priva, he has worked with Havecon many times on various projects. 'Havecon was able to help us with the entire expansion process from company layout to the design of the greenhouse system.' According to Flora Pack - Boekestyn Greenhouses, who stood out was Dean Starink. 'Dean Starink, our Project Manager, was able to help us with the challenges before and during the construction process. We faced many challenges with an extremely tight schedule that created additional stress during our project.'

The Flora Pack greenhouse was built during the COVID-19 period. This obviously brought many industrial challenges. For example, not all materials were in stock, and shipments were at times subject to extreme delays. During this time, Havecon showed a clear determination to Boekestyn Greenhouses to tackle this project and had a high reputation for delivering. Therefore, this was the deciding factor for Boekestyn Greenhouses to start working with Havecon.

When asked about the future of Boekestyn Greenhouses, the response was enthusiastic. 'We are excited about the future with the added production space. We are able to integrate new technology alongside our current systems to deliver more products while maintaining and improving the necessary level of quality.'
