Arend Roses stops growing roses

After 47 years of growing roses, Arend Roses will give up rose cultivation. The grower announced this on Facebook last Friday, the last day on which stems were auctioned. "Partly due to the gas crisis, we have started to look differently at our future as rose growers," said the grower, adding that "the end of Arend Roses does not mean the end of our company.

When asked about future plans, the firm's management declined to respond.

Update: On WOS, director Remco van der Arend said they plan to switch to hydrangeas. "There is less competition there, and it will bring other advantages," Remco said.
