In order to protect their germinis in an affordable and environmentally friendly way against unwanted outside insects, including the golden twin-spot moth, Klondike Gardens has chosen the SchermNed insect mesh filter system. The result has proven successful to date, as the golden twin-spot moth continues to be kept at bay.
"The primary goal of the investment was to keep the golden twin-spot moth out," says Ruud van Leeuwen, owner of Klondike Gardens, together with his brother Tom. "This has been 100 percent successful so far. We have not had to carry out any spraying against the golden twin-spot moth since the mesh was installed because they are simply not there anymore."
Quick and safe installation
The installation in the 1,700-plus vents was very quick, and within a month, all vents were equipped with the necessary insect netting. The insect netting was installed above the existing crop, something that is especially possible thanks to the SchermNed "over crop" carts.
Still, not everything went smoothly. A complication surrounding the profiling of the A-notch security in combination with the mounting profiles had been overlooked, as a result of which quite a few windows unexpectedly broke. A setback, therefore, which took some time to repair. "But SchermNed does not run away from problems. Annoying," recalls project leader Peter van der Lingen, "but we were able to demonstrate our ability to act quickly and effectively in unforeseen situations. That same day, we were at the door to repair the damage."
