High school competes in Massachusetts contest

The Gloucester High School Future Farmers of America floriculture team recently traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete at The Big E (the seventh largest fair in North America), where Gloucester placed first overall. The team earned its spot in the competition after placing second overall at the state convention in June.

While at The Big E, team members had the chance to deepen their agricultural experience through visiting gardens and other exhibits that they could not have experienced otherwise. In individual competitions, recent GHS graduate Ailin Harpole placed third and seniors Emma Lynch and Hailey Ware placed seventh and eighth, respectively. Students who competed are, from left, Harpole, Lynch, Ware, and Maddy Micket.
