New Echinacea "Princess Honey" set to hit market

Terra Nova Nurseries has announced the latest addition to its Echinacea Princess series: Princess 'Honey'. The new variety offers a tight, compact habit with long-lasting, honey-colored flowers complemented by deep-green foliage extending to the ground.

Echinacea Princess 'Honey' is cherished for its fragrant flowers and long-lasting summer blooms, which attract many pollinators, especially hummingbirds and butterflies, from June through October. The new coneflower by Terra Nova offers a wide variety of special uses, including being deer-resistant, well-suited for the American Deep South and a low-water usage plant. Princess 'Honey', bred for the pot crop market, also thrives in mixed beds and border edges, favoring full sun and average soil, with coarse and slightly mineral soil being ideal.

The USDA Hardiness Zones for Echinacea Princess 'Honey' are 4-9. This perennial benefits from being kept moderately dry between waterings during finishing time in greenhouses. The finish time from a liner to a 4-inch pot is six to eight weeks, and the finish time from a liner to a 1-gallon pot is 12-14 weeks. Princess 'Honey' reaches a height of 10", width of 12" and flower height of 15".
