In 2024, Kazakhstan imported flowers worth $93.6 million, a significant increase from $61.3 million in 2023, marking a 52.8% year-on-year growth.

The main suppliers of flowers to Kazakhstan remain five countries, accounting for 97.5% of the total flower imports:

  • Ecuador ($50.8 million);
  • the Netherlands ($17.6 million);
  • Kenya ($8.2 million);

The remaining 2.5% of flower imports came from Russia ($0.6 million), Uzbekistan ($0.43 million), Belarus ($0.4 million), Israel ($0.3 million), and other countries.

Despite China greatly increasing its flower exports, growing by 13 times, it still holds only 8% of the total import volume. In comparison, China's share was about 1% in 2023.

Roses are by far the most popular flowers in Kazakhstan. In 2024, roses accounted for $61 million, or 65% of all flower imports.

Additionally, Zhuldyz Flowers mentioned that they not only import flowers but also grow them locally. Around 30% of their flowers are produced domestically for sale.
