The story of Arber Horticulture began in 1996 when its founder launched Sudest Europe, a small, family-run business based in Italy. Over time, the company evolved into a global brand, supplying substrates, fertilizers, and mulches to professional growers and gardeners across more than 20 countries. One of their latest innovations is the AR-Containermulch, a blend of thermally sanitized fiber and wood chips. The AR-Containermulch was recently unveiled at Myplant & Garden 2025 in Milan, Italy.

AR-Containermulch
AR- Containermulch, a mixture of wood fiber and wood shavings. "Designed for use in pots and flowerbeds, this mulch is thermally sanitized to reduce phytosanitary risks", says Rino Caccia, Arber's Sales and Marketing advisor. "AR-Containermulch serves several functions, including reducing water evaporation during hot weather and in areas where pots dry out quickly. It also effectively limits weed growth, offering an alternative to chemical weed control. Additionally, its thermal insulating properties protect plant roots, helping to promote thicker roots and healthier plant growth."
The mulch gradually composts, returning nutrients to the soil and contributing to its health, he continues. "It can also help prevent soil erosion in sloped areas by reducing runoff caused by rain. While it is effective and sustainable, it also improves the appearance of potted plants, which can be particularly beneficial in retail settings. Also, it is easy to apply with transplanting machines, and for best results, a 2-3 cm layer is recommended."AR-Containermulch is available in 70-liter bags or large 3-cubic-meter bales and is produced in Central Europe under strict quality standards.
Sustainability
And all Arber's products are produced under strict quality standards. "Every Arber product is crafted from years of experience and a deep respect for the environment. Our peat bogs in the Baltic States and Germany operate under the strictest European regulations, while our formulations are designed to deliver outstanding performance and sustainability."
When looking at the future, they have a simple mission: "to empower those who love nature to cultivate it to its fullest potential, contributing to a greener and more sustainable world."
