Looking at the state of the Russian floriculture industry

Despite everything, the Russian flower market is growing and developing. According to the marketing agency BusinesStat, sales of cut flowers in Russia in 2024 increased by 5% and exceeded 2 billion pieces. Not long ago, 9 out of 10 flowers were imported to Russia from abroad, but today every fifth flower is produced in Russia. The annual production of Russian flowers has exceeded 400 million stems.

The flower sector is taking a step towards independence
The government is considering measures to provide state support to Russian flower growers, and industry representatives are determined to increase Russian flower production to 70% of the capacity of the Russian flower market.

The support of Russian floriculture is a key focus for both the executive and legislative branches of government in Russia. The Federation Council is developing a roadmap for the development of domestic floriculture, which will stimulate investment activity in the industry. Meanwhile, the State Duma has programs aimed at reducing dependence on imports.

Before March 8, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visited the Podosinki greenhouse complex near Moscow, one of the most modern and dynamically developing greenhouse enterprises in Russia. During the visit, the conversation turned to measures of state support for the industry. Highly appreciating the success of the company and the industry as a whole, the Prime Minister spoke about measures to support Russian floriculture.

In his speech, he stressed that the growth of domestic production was made possible by a set of government support measures, including short-term preferential loans and a special five-year program for agricultural equipment, greenhouses, and software. Mikhail Mishustin stated that support for the floriculture industry in Russia will continue, ensuring the ongoing development of floriculture in the country.

Many major Russian manufacturers will be among the participants of the International Exhibition "TsvetYexpo," the key exhibition of the Russian flower and plant market, from September 8-10, 2025, at the Crocus Expo IEC.
