NL: Collaborating for a digital future through new sector platform

On 8 April, the first consultation meeting of the Sector Platform was held - a new step in strengthening collaboration between growers, buyers and Royal FloraHolland. This consultation has been created to work together to accelerate digitisation in the floriculture sector, with maximum transparency and trust as a starting point. Floriday plays a central role as the digital platform in the chain.

Covenant as a foundation and clear agreements
The consultation follows the covenant signed last summer by Royal FloraHolland on behalf of growers and a group of buyers (former Blueroots participants). The Covenant sets out clear ground rules, principles and governance so that Floriday can continue to grow as a platform. With this in mind, it was decided to meet as a group on a quarterly basis in the form of a Sector Platform Consultation.

This first meeting set the ground rules and principles for the forthcoming consultations. This included considering the composition, expectations of participants, scope and shared objectives.

Focus on adoption, data and sustainability
Digitisation is an important and regular item on the agenda of these sector platform consultations. This included a detailed review of Floriday's progress, with a particular focus on grower and buyer adoption and the continued roll-out of Floriday Daytrade. It also explained the role and activities of the Data Committee, which works to ensure the secure exchange of data between Floriday and the industry.

Another key theme was sharing sustainability data. "By working together on industry-wide data standards, we can do business more sustainably and better meet the growing information needs of our customers."
