Today, May 6, German breeder and young plant producer Brandkamp celebrates a remarkable milestone: the 90th birthday of its founder, Hubert Brandkamp. His birthday is not only a personal celebration but also a tribute to the legacy of a man who helped shape the course of modern horticulture in Germany and beyond.
Founded 66 years ago, Brandkamp owes much of its current success to Hubert Brandkamp's visionary thinking, tireless commitment, and enduring passion, always supported by his wife Renate at his side.
From the very beginning, he demonstrated the courage to break new ground in horticulture, embracing modern and forward-thinking production methods. He was among the early pioneers to establish production sites in southern regions, a bold move that significantly influenced the company's long-term development.
Working closely with his son, Hubert Theo Brandkamp, he expanded the company to include five hectares of raised glass greenhouses and broadened operations into Africa. Under their leadership, Brandkamp's breeding programs and young plant production evolved to meet international standards, earning the company global recognition.
Involved in horticultural association work, but also in local politics and as a keen classical music fan, he is still in the office every day and follows the company's activities. "His opinion is still in demand", says Christine Appl, daughter of Hubert Brandkamp.
"On this special day, we would like to take the opportunity to honour our father, grandfather, great-grandfather and senior boss for his inspirational leadership and tireless efforts. His values and pioneering spirit are the foundation on which our company stands today. We would like to thank Hubert Brandkamp for everything he has done for the company and the community and look forward to many more years together."
