We first visited the FlowerTrials in 2015, when 49 companies took part in the event. This year, 56 breeders across the Netherlands and Germany will open their doors to showcase the future of ornamental horticulture.
Over the years, the event has seen many changes. New participants have joined, others have moved on, but one thing has remained constant: FlowerTrials continues to be a truly international event, drawing visitors from around the globe during its traditional slot in week 24.
Curious to see who stayed, who left, and what was on display over the years?Below, you'll find a list of all the photo reports we've compiled over the past decade. Alongside each year, we've included the number of participating companies, locations, and visitor counts.
You'll notice a decline in visitor numbers in recent years—likely due to a change in reporting methods. Before the pandemic, published figures reflected registered visitors, while post-pandemic data shows actual attendance. That said, one trend is clear: the number of countries represented has steadily increased, underscoring FlowerTrials' growing global reach.
2015 - 49 companies on 30 locations
2017 - 59 companies on 32 locations. 7,135 registered visitors from 67 countries
2018 - 60 companies on 32 locations. 7,300 registered visitors form 70 different countries
2019 - 62 breeding on 31 locations. 7,007 registered visitors from 66 countries
2020 and 2021 edition were canceled due to the covid pandemic, but a digital alternative was launched in 2021: 'Studio FlowerTrials',
