NL: Preparations underway for new Wageningen greenhouse project

Wageningen University & Research has reaffirmed its confidence in Bosman Van Zaal by selecting them for the Serre Green project Wageningen University & Research (WUR) has reaffirmed its confidence in Bosman Van Zaal by selecting them for the development of its latest research facility, the ambitious 'Serre Green' project.

This state-of-the-art greenhouse, covering 4,096 m² and divided into 31 uniquely equipped compartments, is designed to facilitate advanced research under diverse cultivation conditions and systems. The compartments will feature various setups, including substrate gutters, rolling benches, and hydroponic systems. Specific compartments will also be tailored for tropical crops, short-day crops, and potato cultivation.

"This project brings together all of our areas of expertise," says Rami Alsouqi, Technical Consultant at Bosman Van Zaal. "From greenhouse construction to climate systems, from water technology to screening installations – we are managing and executing the project from start to finish."

Bosman Van Zaal has previously delivered several other key projects on the WUR campus, including Project Red, the InsectGreenhouse, and the NPEC greenhouse.

Engineering work is already underway. Construction will begin in September 2025, with project completion scheduled for October 2026.
