"Weather in Colombia can make rose production complex, so low disease levels are crucial for our growers," explains Laura Fajardo, Commercial Manager of De Ruiter Colombia. "'Happy Mood' meets that need. It shows low susceptibility to Downy Mildew while maintaining strong performance in the field."
The variety features a classic open shape, minimum 6 cm bud size, and average stem length of 60 cm. It is one of four new varieties in a series of bright, retail-friendly colors aimed at meeting ongoing demand from Colombia's main export market, the United States, which accounts for around 80% of shipments of roses.
Although all plantings are still being completed, early results indicate strong production and uniform growth. "'Happy Mood' offers reliability and color consistency, two things our clients value most," Laura adds.
With its cheerful appearance and dependable agronomic traits, 'Happy Mood' is set to become a promising addition to De Ruiter's Colombian portfolio.
