About the Crop Inspector Role
The Crop Inspector monitors crop production from seed to packaging at our aeroponic plant-growing facility in San Jose, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Check farm operational setpoints (lighting, fluidics, nutrients etc.)
- Compare sensor readings against farm settings
- Differentiate between healthy and unhealthy leaves, stems, and roots based on instruction and photographs
- Perform basic cleaning tasks
- Follow written and verbal instructions to maintain the farm in clean and sanitary condition using approved chemicals under supervision.
- Follow written and verbal instructions to adjust farm ops, lighting, and/or irrigation equipment
- Follow written and verbal instructions to package and label products
- Print shipping labels
- Prepare customer orders according to packing slip
- Maintain clean and safe product handling environment
- Collect samples, prepare sample submission forms
- Report observations clearly
- Maintain inspection records
- Perform physical lift 25 lbs. repetitively, and 50 lbs. occasionally
- Other tasks as necessary to maintain the farm
Requirements:
- High School diploma with some college level courses in life sciences, biology, botany or related coursework or Controlled Environment Agriculture experience, such as commercial greenhouses or grow rooms required
- Equivalent work experience will be considered in place of formal education
- Knowledge of aeroponic or hydroponic production needed
- Positive, dependable, highly organized, and results-oriented
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Work with growers and the rest of our great team to identify opportunities for process improvement
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Scheduling flexibility for overtime as necessary to meet the needs of the job
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including GAP and FSMA food safety regulations
