Global Product Manager - Northeast Ohio area








Smithers-Oasis is a diverse global manufacturer and marketer of floral foam and design media, floral accessories, postharvest products, cellular growing media, temperature control packaging, medical impression foam, and custom foams for specialized applications. We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual to guide a cross functional team that is charged with developing the product line for OASIS Grower Solutions. This extends from maintaining and improving existing products to developing new products, product extensions and custom products. This position will help build products from existing ideas/projects and help to develop new ideas based on industry experience and contact with customers as well as realizing unmet needs. This individual must possess a unique blend of business and horticulture industry savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. Additionally, this person must enjoy spending time in the market to understand customer problems and find innovative solutions for the broader market.


Some responsibilities of the Global Product Manager position include (but is not limited to):

  • Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities with a variety of cross functional teams
  • Develops product roadmaps with R&D.
  • Follows stage gate product development and takes handoff of product at appropriate time from R&D.
  • Coordinates on field trials with R&D.
  • Drives commercialization with cross functional
  • Works with marketing communications and creative services on collateral development for all product launches.
  • Develops the business model to include:
    • Message
    • Value Proposition
    • Features and benefits
    • Product forecast
    • Key partners
    • To include manufacturing plan
    • Packaging, sizes, and labeling
    • Pricing
    • Intro strategy (to include plan on field trials)
    • Launch strategy
    • Launch plan / components
  • Specifies market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and prospective
  • Manages product offering on e-commerce
  • Develops and implements a global go-to-market plan, working with all departments to
  • Partners with marketing communications and creative services to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer and what collateral will be needed for the product launch.
  • Manages Oasis Grower Solutions sustainability roadmap and plan, from initial concept/ideas/vision to full-fledged development, meeting with customers as needed and training our internal team on a regular basis.



  • An individual with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Marketing or Product/Brand Management.
  • An individual with a Horticulture degree and/or industry experience is a strong
  • An individual with 3 or more years of professional experience in sales, product marketing, production planning, trade marketing and/or field
  • An individual with strong communications skills with all levels of the organization as well as customers and partners.
  • An individual who takes responsibility and leads cross functional teams with no actual
  • An individual who can manage through influence, not
  • An individual who is able to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the
  • An individual with advanced Excel knowledge, iAuditor, Microsoft Project and E1.

We are looking for someone who resides in the northeast Ohio area. This position may be performed remotely, however, at times it may require onsite availability for training, meetings or other onsite activities.
