The opportunity:

Currently, Planasa is looking for Business Developer – Northern Europe. The focus of this position is supporting the implementation of the commercial strategy and extending the nursery licensees with existing and new relations. You will represent the market at trade fairs and support other departments such as R&D and marketing to understand market requirements.

Planasa's sister company, Advanced Berry Breeding (ABB) is currently located in Hedel, NL, with plans to move to Utrecht in January 2024 due to its favorable travel links. This move will provide a physical office for you to collaborate with colleagues from the sister company and host meetings with your line manager. While the sales team is primarily based in Spain and France, your role will involve a mix of home office, office work, and travel.

Here are some specific tasks and responsibilities that you might undertake:

  • Build an understanding of the local market and its needs.
  • Contribute to the set-up of the commercial roadmap jointly with the partners & managers.
  • Provide the markets with the right technical support and grow sales.
  • Meetings with both potential and existing customers.
  • Targeted to grow the plant sales and revenue.
  • This is a role with a huge level of autonomy and impact across the business.

Your expertise:


Minimum education/qualification/experience

  • 3+ years’ work experience in technical development support or sales role in the agroindustry.
  • Degree in Agronomics or Biology, or similar.
  • Experience with any agricultural products – fruit, fertilisers, machinery etc.

Leadership and behavioral

  • Result oriented.
  • Strong networking skills to liaise with partners.
  • Ability to work autonomously, enthusiastic, and dynamic.
  • Ability to work remotely with travel across Europe
  • Sales oriented, ability to create new business and expand existing business.

Functional and technical 

  • Must be fluent in Dutch and English (+ German language is a big plus)
  • Driving license is essential.
