Based at our HQ in Ravenhall in this newly created role you will be providing ongoing technical support to our expanding nursery operations based in Tasmania as well as our third party nursery partners located nationally. With our in-house nursery sprawling across 100 ha, three sites and consisting of both soil and substrate production systems such as long cane and tray plant systems, you will be utilising your highly developed plant physiology and production knowledge, as well as your experience in compliance to ensure our nursery teams receive sound technical advice adopting best-practice production methods across all four of our berry types.

Reporting directly to the National Nursery Manager, some of your key duties include:

• Identifying & developing new plant propagation & growing methods including soil and substrate production to improve plant yields and quality
• Developing plant nutrition plans and programs
• Provide pragmatic and hands-on advice and support to nursery teams and ensure compliance with production guidelines and procedures
• Developing and implementing advanced pest and disease management programs
• Develop guidelines, protocols and documentation to ensure compliance with local and global regulatory pest and disease controls
• Facilitating technical trainings and providing hands-on direction to teams
• Providing technical support and guidance to the Tissue Culture Propagation team and function

To be considered you will need to be able to demonstrate the following in your application:

• Undergraduate or post-graduate qualifications in Agronomy, Horticulture or Plant Sciences
• Strong understanding of plant production techniques and significant practical experience as well as highly developed theoretical and scientific knowledge base
• Previous experience in managing small teams
• Strong technical writing & analytical skills
• Ability to work autonomously and make independent technical decisions
• Ability to travel interstate or internationally without restrictions
• Unrestricted drivers licence
