Because of their focus on the core business, Moerman Lilium BV is selling its branch in Tanzania. This concerns a farm at the foot of Mt. Meru called ‘West Meru Alps’. The entire company is currently in use for growing summer flowers. The company is located at an altitude of 2,000 meters and is therefore ideal for all kinds of crops that like to have cool nights. Almost directly below the equator, the company would, for example, also be suitable for growing quality roses and various fruit and vegetable crops. Cyclic lighting is installed in the 5.7 hectares shaded greenhouses. All conceivable facilities (power connection, cold storage rooms, power generators, reservoirs, agricultural machines etc.) are included and are in good condition. This also is applicable for the required buildings, offices and storage areas.
Moerman Lilium BV is a company that has been growing flowers for 50 years. Fully specialized in growing quality lilies and expanding fast in the Netherlands. Moerman Lilium BV started a branch in Tanzania in 2007, also for growing lilies. These flowers and bulb flowers in general grow perfectly on this high-altitude farm. The cultivation of lilies was increasingly done in Holland and therefore the cultivation plan for the farm was changed to summer flowers. Moerman Lilium BV has decided to fully focus on their core business: lilies. Owning a farm in Africa does not fit in with the long-term vision and strategy of Moerman Lilium BV and its customers.
The company is being offered for acquisition. The inventory, the existing greenhouses, the staff and management (and possibly the crops) can all continue in the current way and there are several options that can be discussed in terms of the acquisition process.
