Highlighted: Florensis, Benary, Schneider, Varinova, Brandkamp and Dalina

Mixes, scented flowers, improved varieties and much more was presented at the FlowerTrials 2015, that was held in the Netherlands and Germany last week. 49 companies opened their doors and attracted many international visitors. We already published an extensive Photo Report of the FlowerTrials. In this article, we will highlight some companies that presented their novelties in the Westland region, the Netherlands: Florensis, Benary, Schneider, Varinova en Dalina Genetics.

Some novelties of: Upper left: The Conga: Pink Kiss (Calibrachoa x hybrid) is compact and very suitable for garden tables. It will be on the market in spring 2016. De Conga series consists of 4 colors. Upper right: Three new colors are added to the Toscana series of Florensis; white (Eva), red (Paula) and pink (Kasecha). Bottom left: The Chameleon of Florensis. It flowers richly and wild, like the Can Can. The color of the flowers change during the summer. The Chameleon series consists of different colors. Bottom rigth: The Lavender with a new concept; Essence. With this concept, Florensis is trying to increase the popularity of the lavender in the market. Essence is winter hardy and flowers 10 days earlier than the well-known Hidcote.


Florensis did not only present their varieties inside, but also outside. People are looking at the trial garden of Florensis.



Gundula Wagner of Benary in front of the BIG begonia. This begonia is used all over the world for landscaping and is very popular in Russia and China. This year color number five will be released: BIG Rose Green Leaf. The BIG series now offers five colors above glossy deep green or bronze foliage.


Novelties and existing varieties of Benary: Upper left: Nonstop JOY is the first semi-trailing begonia in the Nonstop family and the first ever from seed.
Good branching and a compact habit make it ideal for transport as stems will not break. Just as the name says, NonstopĀ® flowers all summer long until the first frost falls. Upper right: Lollipop is a new series of impatiens of Benary. At the moment, the series consist of 8 colours. It is tight flowering and flowers early. They bloom within one week. Everything is grown from seeds. Bottom left: The San Fransisco is added to the Begonia boliviensis collection. This begonia is heat and rain tolerant and thrives in many countries, from Florida to Siberia. Bottom right: The Success petunia series of Benary consists of eight colours. It is round mounded and was introduced last year.

A couple of novelties of Schneider: Upper left: A new bidens with a brown stripe on the flowerleaf, the BeeDANCE painted yellow. Upper right:The Calibrachoa Kali Rose White Edge. This White Edge is part of the Kali series, along with the Princess and Terracotta. All plants in this series flower at the same time. Bottom left: The Helichrysum Ian Silver Compact. It is a strong compact plant. In the past, this Helichrysum had long stems, now, it is a strong and compact plant. Bottom right: The Petunia Success Red is part of the Petunia Success series. The Success Red is grown from seed. All petunias in this series flower at the same time.


Carolien Klein of Varinova with the Magnia white 17cm. The Magnia series consists of six colors and is suitable for 14-17 cm pot sizes. It has large flowers and green leaves.


A couple of novelties and existing varieties of Varinova: Upper left: The Facila is a new mini series of Varinova and consists of seven colors. The plants have a round shape and many flowers and leaves. This series will replace the Musical series. Upper right: The Pythagoras is characterized by the use of 3 colors of Cyclamen in one pot. The concept was introduced a couple of years ago and is now cultivated by Eflorie, a Dutch grower. Photos on the bottom: The Melody outdoor minis are suited to placement outdoors. This series consist of 13 colors, including 4 shine colors. The flowers of these shine cyclamen have a white edge, this makes them 'shine'.

A couple of novelties of Brandkamp: Upper left:The Jollies of Brandkamp. Three colors are added to this series: La Grande Provence, La Grande Alsace and La Grande Corse. This series flowers continuously and has many flowers. The Jollies are very popular in the UK. Upper right: The small flowered Jollies series has six new colours. The Toulon for example has white flowers with a green tone. Bottom left: The Pemba Canari is added to the Pemba series of Brandkamp. The series flowers in 4-7 weeks. Bottom right: The Branfountain Purple is added to the mini mums series. The flowers bloom at the same time and can be cultivated in a pot.

The Mendoza is a new color in the Dalina Dahlia Maxi series of Dalina Genetics.


The Rosita is added to the Dalina Osteospermum series. It has more color than the Rozia.
