The new patio blackberry has already proven popular having been released Autumn 2017, named “Purple Opal”. It has a similar berry growth to the hanging basket blackberry “Black Cascade” but the upright growth habit is what makes this variety more perfect for easy picking from patio pots if the hanging space is not available.

Brand new “Blue Sapphire”, due to be released this coming spring to complete the collection, is the first official dwarf blueberry of its kind, growing to a maximum height of 60cm and blooming stunning variegated flowers before maturing white means this variety gives the feeling of a real edible ornamental when it delivers masses of petite cute tasty berries.

These two varieties in addition to the patio raspberry “Ruby Beauty” and Hanging Basket Blackberry “Black Cascade”, make a full rounded collection for the hobbyist gardener by providing them a mix of tasty fresh fruits.

The patio Raspberry “Ruby Beauty” which was released in 2014 is still selling out every year and this year Hargreaves have orders that exceed 200,000 dispatched all across Europe.

“We are proud to release a whole new range of products making it easy for anybody to grow any fruits in their own garden even if they have limited space, the collection is a completely new addition to the market and allows consumers to easily grow a mixture of fruits at home, we want people to know you don’t need a huge garden or a vegetable patch to grow fruit. We hope the fun factor and practicality of these varieties will help encourage the younger generation to get into gardening to set the foundations for the next generation of gardeners and growers to enter the industry.”
