Siflor 2018: knowledge creation to cope with the new challenges of the floriculture sector

Asocolflores (Colombian Association of Flowers Growers and Exporters), celebrates the new 2018 edition of Siflor with all floriculture professionals. The technical event in Latin America promotes Colombian Flowers competitiveness on the global market with a focus on innovation, leadership, human resources and technical development.

The 2018 International Floriculture symposium takes place in the Medellin Tesoro event center. 400 professionals have already checked in to the event for Floriculture knowledge generation in Colombia and Ecuador.

Augusto Solano, President of Asocolflores, explains that “the floriculture activity is more demanding and competitive every day. It is now mandatory for Flowers growers to be up to date with the new technologies and techniques, but also with the human management trends to be able to maximize their productivity. This symposium is a one of a kind opportunity to gather knowledge, exchange information and ideas, and to extend your network with the other professionals.”

Asocolflores has been leading this initiative for 26 years, converting Siflor into one of the most relevant gatherings for the whole sector in Colombia but also in Ecuador, one of Colombia’s biggest competitors that support the initiative: “ExpoFlores (Ecuador association of Flowers Exporters) is glad to support Siflor. It’s not about competition but joining forces so that every company will get the most of the symposium to become more competitive” said Solano.

More than 700 people per day are expected to assist the academical agenda and commercial showroom. They will have the opportunity to learn and participate with international speakers from USA, Mexico, Spain and Colombia.
The academical agenda is built around 10 technical talks on topics such as artificial intelligence, talent attraction and retention, technologies for climate analysis, impact of LED light on crops or creative promotion for the American market.

A commercial fair is also part of Siflor, with 44 brands showing the most advanced technologies available on the market in order to facilitate work and optimize results of the floriculture activity.
