World record:

China: 641 chrysanthemum species grow on same plant

China has set yet another Guinness World record after successfully grafting 641 varieties of chrysanthemum onto the same plant in Kaifeng, Henan Province.

The extraordinary chrysanthemum measures 3.8 metres in diameter and it took one year to cultivate, reported the Chinese language China News Service.

The massive plant has about 1,500 blossoms.

According to the cultivation centre, it was quite challenging to graft that many chrysanthemums onto the same host plant as some of the species need different conditions for surviving.

The cultivation facility created the world record for the most plant species grafted onto the same plant, the Guinness World Records adjudicator declared on October 18.

The centre has already set six chrysanthemum-themed world records.
