Canada (AB): High Q Greenhouses to offer Night Sky petunia plugs

High Q Greenhouses, in AB Canada, is proud to be a "root and sell" grower for Selecta plants. For 2016, they are going to propagate and offer Selecta's new headliner series Petunia NightSky to growers all over Western Canada. "We just have limited availability with this petunia variety," says Naomi Gowing of High Q Greenhouses.

Night Sky
NightSky is a petunia variety bred by Selecta Klemm from Stutgart Germany and is represented by Ball from Chicago (IL) in North America. According to Gowing, the flowerpetals is what makes the plant striking. They are dark violet with white spot. It is also said that it looks like a ever-changing star constellation. Last June this variety won the FleuroStar awards in the bedding plants category. According to the jury, this variety had the biggest wowfactor. Besides the looks, this cutting-raised newcomer also has some advantages regarding cultivation. "It matches the headliner in habit, timing and vigour," says Gowing.

High demand
The demand among the Canadian growers for this new variety is already high as they expect this variety to become very popular. "Of course, in advance you never know if a variety becomes a bestseller. However, we know that the Canadian consumers are always eager to learn and grow new varieties. Therefore, our expectations for this variety are high," says Gowing.
