Aim
A grower minimum price gives growers more control over their sales via the clock. It will contribute to an optimal and stable price-setting at the clock. The grower minimum price has already been implemented for the cut flowers Gerbera, Anthurium and rose.
Procedure
The grower sets a minimum price for his product. If the clock sales price falls under that level, then the product is withdrawn rather than sold. During the auction, buyers can recognise the imposition of a minimum price by the dark blue price indicator (if the minimum falls in that round) and light blue if the minimum price falls in a higher round.
What are the rules?
- Participation is voluntary. If no grower minimum price has been specified, then the standard minimum price applies.
- The grower sets the minimum price. This is an individual minimum price for one lot.
- The grower minimum price can be set individually for each lot.Lots that fall 'under the grower minimum price' are withdrawn and destroyed.
- It is possible to impose a grower minimum price at all export locations, including the Florists Clock in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands. In Eelde, the Netherlands, it is not possible to set a grower minimum price.
- The grower minimum price is higher than the standard minimum price for the relevant product group.
In June 2015 we shall evaluate the effect of the grower minimum price in combination with displaying it on the clock front. Then we shall determine the form in which the grower minimum price will be continued.
