Jan Huisman, De Vakbloemist:

NL: Grower and florist jointly promoting product

De Vakbloemist (devakbloemist.nl) has launched a new form of flower promotion. It concerns a campaign in which producers on the one hand and the florist on the other, will promote the product together.

The campaign offers growers, breeders and suppliers the opportunity to promote products nationwide, in collaboration with local florists. Jan Huisman, founder of De Vakbloemist along with partner Mark Doyle: "More than 3,400 florists have joined us. They communicate the promotional material that we provide through their own channels as much as possible. For growers and breeders this results in more publicity for their product and/or brand, for the florist hopefully in better sales. They can also inspire other florists with customer feedback and possibly give the grower, breeder and supplier interesting ideas."

Florists and consumers in the spotlight
This campaign, ‘Flowers for you’, also places both the florist and the end customer in the spotlight. Besides needed promotion and brand awareness, Jan explains, the florist can win prizes depending on how the promotional material is distributed and customer feedback is delivered. The consumer is triggered to join by raffling flowers (through the campaign’s Facebook page, check out fb.me/bloemenvoorjou).

Finally, the campaign offers breeders an excellent opportunity to promote their own products. The best example is probably the rose that now occupies a central role in the campaign: the Red Eagle of Arend Roses. According to Jan there already more than 20 breeders who are interested in the promotional activities of De Vakbloemist.

"Growing Together"
De Vakbloemist was founded in 2015 by Jan Huisman and Mark Doyle and strives to find new and different ways for florists to grow across the entire ornamentals sector. This is achieved by connecting florists with each other, by representing their interests and bringing back the core values of the breeder specialist to the local flower ambassador. Growing together, the umbrella name for all promotional activities, has been launched to connect the florists with growers, wholesalers and suppliers. This way De Vakbloemist provides added value on both sides and joint investments can be made in a growing sector.
