US (MI): Fire destroys Spring Meadow Nursery's office building

Early Sunday, a fire broke out in the office building of Spring Meadow Nursery. "Around 3 am, a fire broke out in our office building, completely destroying it. We are fortunate that no one was hurt and damage to our growing structures was minimal. We can replace things, we can replace walls, but we can't replace our team of employees. Thank you all so much for your concern and support", the company posted on their Facebook page.

Damage could have been worse
Robinson Township Fire Department, Chief Paul VanVelzen, told woodtv.com that the fire started in the nursery's office building and caused about $1 million. However, the damage could have been worse. "If the crews had arrived later, the damage could have surpassed $15 million", he says. He also reported that a few nearby greenhouses did melt in some sections as a result of the fire.

The crews are still investigating the cause of the fire, but, according to VanVelzen, given the extent of the damage, it may be difficult to determine.
