Florist Breeding - Capitol Reef®
The Capitol Reef is one of the three new additions to the Patio Gerbera's of Florist Breeding. The gerbera's in this series are a voluminous, rich flowering plant with big, decorative flowers good for patio, deck or outdoor living area. The three new additions to the series boast of a 2 week quicker crop time, fuller plants and much more flower power. The three additions are Volcanoes Improved® Sedona® and Capitol Reef®. The latter two are bi-colors. (Visit Florist Holland to see more novelties at GroLink at 4107 West Gonzales Road, Oxnard, CA 93036. Click here to email the company for more information)

Sakata Seed - Profusion Red zinnia
Sakata introduces a Profusion Red zinnia. "It touts the truest red of any zinnia in its class." In fact, the color seems to be so impressive that Profusion Red has already received both an AAS and Fleuroselect award this year. It is an addition to the existing Profusion series that maintains all the desired traits that Profusion Zinnia fans love: compact form, disease resistance, early and continuous blooms all season long and ease in growing. "Plus, Profusion Red’s extreme heat and drought tolerance make it an excellent choice for gardeners and landscapers across the country." Anthura - Leeds
In practice, you often have to choose between either a high percentage of plants with two spikes or a large flower size. With the arrival of the phalaenopsis pot plant Anthura Leeds, this is no longer the case. This variety, which will be on display at the California Spring Trials combines both characteristics with a very compact plant structure. As a result this plant looks like a sea of flowers. This indoor pot plant is suitable for (growers aiming at) the retail channel and (growers aiming at) the wholesale market/specialist dealers. The variety has a plant height of around 28 inch and a flower size of 4 inch. With a standard cultivation duration of 46 weeks, the variety produces 90% plants with two spikes. Westhoff - Constellation™ Petunia
The Constellation is a petunia new series Westhoff. The blooms of the petunias are covered with starry-eyed patterns. These plants have a vigorous mounded-trailing habit and good garden performance. Flower patterns remain stable under various garden conditions, providing more predictability and satisfaction for the consumer.(Visit Westhoff to see more novelties at Floricultura, 25425 Esperanza Road, Salinas, CA 93908, Click here to email the company for more information)

Elsner-PAC- Cassiopeia Geranium
Cassiopeia is a novelty of Elsner-PAC. It has a double flower form, offering the look of a premium zonal geranium with a habit good for containers and baskets. Cassiopeia is more compact and with smaller, more restrained foliage than the industry standard interspecific. "Heat-loving and drought-tolerant, Cassiopeia will perform reliably in even the hottest, driest summer conditions." Cassiopeia features large, fully double flowers in a rich, dark, velvety red, which bloom under full-sun and partial-shade conditions. Its branching fills containers quickly. Kapiteyn - Captain Solo ®.
An explosion of yellow colored Calla that is extremely floriferous and produces the most flowers per tuber than any other series. According to Kapiteyn these are the characteristics of their Captain Solo. Many nurseries have increased their production of these 'easy-to-grow' plants. "All the varieties in the Captain Calla Series provide impressive display of bold colors, very long shelf-life at retail site and fits nicely into current production plans with its unique shorter crop cycles." (Visit Kapiteyn-Holland to see more novelties at Grolink at 4107 West Gonzales Road, Oxnard, CA 93036, Click here to email the company for more information.)

Geranien Endisch - XTREME Rose Splash
XTREME Rose Splash is a bi-coloured novelty in the interspecific series XTREME of Geranien Endisch. The varieties in these series have large flowers with a red eye and a hotpink edge are effective at a distance. The XTREME Rose Splash is considered to be as a sister to the XTREME Alpin Red – the green leaves are non-zonal and spread in a harmonious, circular shape. The structure has multi-stage ranks of small leaves, indicating a good branching habit. In cultivation, the strong growth remains easily controllable – the space required is reasonable and can be calculated. "Outdoors, the assets of the XTREME series are shown to advantage: great weather resistance and a sustained impetus of growth. For customers, it’s evidence of hard work in the garden." (Visit Geranien Endisch to see more novelties at Pacific Plug and Liner at 750 Casserly Road, Watsonville, CA 95076. Click here to email the company for more information)
