CAN (QC): Berger acquires Tourbière H. Théberge
Berger has been growing steadily over the past few years and this acquisition will enable the company to consolidate its harvesting activities in Saint-Modeste, helping to ensure a reliable supply of peat for retail sale. “We are particularly pleased with the conclusion of this agreement, especially since it allows us to continue a beautiful family story,” said Claudin Berger, Co-President of Berger’s boards. The two companies have shared family roots, both originating in Saint-Fabien, Quebec. Henri Théberge founded Tourbière Théberge in 1962, in Saint-Modeste. The following year, his second cousin, Huguette Théberge and her husband, Alcide Berger, founded Tourbières Berger on the neighbouring site.
“We are delighted to see that a local company with a great reputation in our industry will be continuing harvesting operations on this peatland and preserve the jobs,” explained Réjean and Daniel Théberge, co-owners of Tourbière Théberge.
Berger also reassured the current customers of Tourbière Henri Théberge & Associés Inc. that all contractual commitments made for the 2017 season will be respected.
