Danziger sees increased demand for modern Gyps
“There is no doubt that Kenya is becoming stronger and more sophisticated every year. With more distribution options, Kenyan growers seek better quality breeds and technical support, in order to be more competitive with the “traditional” market of South America” says Anat Moshes, VP cut flowers sales at Danziger.
A good example for this trend is the increased demand for modern Gyp varieties such as the Xlence and the Cosmic. “The Xlence is a best seller in Europe as well as the US, and we see many growers adding it to their portfolio or extending its production, in order to fit market flavors and demand. The Cosmic on the other hand is relatively new, with several strong features such as long shelf life and very strong, almost “shinning” white color. If in the past we used to see Kenya “following” Ecuador and Colombia in adding newer varieties, this trend is changing, and Kenyan growers are more willing to embrace innovations and keep up with the turbulent market” says Moshes.
In addition to its Gyp varieties, Danziger will present a wide assortment of flowers, from Skyler veronica to Pinacolada Limonium in line with the evolution of Kenya as a diversified cut flowers growing market.
