New service provider for pollen quality control and plant cell biology research

Pollen is a major factor in successful plant breeding, fruit, and seed production. Poor pollen quality leads to failed pollination, reduced fruit and seed set.
The new technology of the Swiss-based company Amphasys that enables a reliable determination of pollen quality (viability and germination), is now offered as an analytical service by Acepo. These data can be used to select high quality pollen donor plants in breeding material and optimise their growing conditions, test the effect of pesticides on pollen quality, to develop pollen storage protocols, and to select good pollen batches before starting the pollination process.

Acepo is a new company founded by Iris Heidmann. Iris has a long time experience as senior researcher in plant cell biology at a major vegetable seed company and worked for many years as research technician at various research institutes in Germany.
