Before you are allowed to build a greenhouse, you are required to demolish another greenhouse first. That is the case in the Dutch municipality Tuil. Grower Jan Mans, Topline Gerbera, intends to build a greenhouse over there, but only companies that are relocating are allowed to do that. That is why the entrepreneur bought a greenhouse nearby, in a different municipality, which he will demolish so that he will be allowed to build a new greenhouse in Tuil.
The grower is from outside the region and had to buy himself into the area as it were. Only companies that demolish greenhouse horticulture companies outside the designated cluster area may settle here.
Existing situation Sint Antoniestraat 35 Tuil
"This is aimed at cleaning up old solitary greenhouses and to locate new greenhouses in the designated concentration area", the local council explains. First, the grower looked at another location, but all greenhouses had already been removed. Eventually he found a plot that met the conditions: with old glass structures and the possibility of building more greenhouses.
Future situation Sint Antoniestraat 35 Tuil
The plans have been submitted to the municipality and no objections were raised. This week the municipality of Neerijnen will discuss the plans and it looks like the executive board is going to agree. On the new plot in Tuil the first phase can be built, 3.8 hectares of greenhouse and necessary facilities such as a water basin. A company house will be realized as well. In the second phase, another 1.7 hectares of greenhouse may be added.
The plot in Opijnen subsequently loses the zoning of greenhouse horticulture and will be for agriculture only.
