durable rattan basketwork from our factory in Indonesia

Van der Sar Import introduces sustainable rattan Terima Kasih

Dutch company Van der Sar Import from De Lier will supply baskets and floristry products made from durable harvested rattan from Indonesia in 2018. The baskets are made in the factory of Van der Sar Import on Java.

Van der Sar Import introduces the durable rattan products under the brand Terima Kasih, which is Indonesian for ‘thanks’. Each product has its own Terima Kasih label.

The unique aspect of the durable rattan Terima Kasih is that Van der Sar Import not only imports the durable baskets but even goes one step further. Van der Sar Import works with rattan harvesters, who only harvest rattan in a sustainable way in the Indonesian forests for Van der Sar Import’s own factory on Java. This gives owner Gerard van der Sar control over the total process from harvesting rattan to the production of the baskets.

By doing this, Van der Sar import has taken an important step towards a sustainable living environment for the local population. Through involvement and close cooperation with various local parties, Van der Sar Import helps maintain the tropical rainforest, provide the local population with work with a decent income all year. A basis for a better future for the community.

Trade Fair
Terima Kasih will be introduced on 8, 9 and 10 November at the FloraHolland Trade Fair in Aalsmeer. Van der Sar Import and the rattan baskets of the Terima Kasih brand can be found at Stand 50.17.

Terima Kasih
The brand name Terima Kasih is Indonesian for ‘thanks’ and is meant to thank the buyer / consumer who makes the choice for durable rattan and thereby chooses for the conservation of the tropical rainforest, chooses for the better future for the local population and for supporting the sustainable approach.

Each product has a Terima Kasih label, which refers to the website www.Terimah-Kasih.eu. On the website the consumer can find information about how the used rattan has been harvested and the conditions that have been created for the employees.
