Shay Lhermann of Aviv Harmonie:

Production of new variety Rey increasing

"We now have 20,000 stems a week till end of April", says Shay Lhermann of Aviv-Harmonie. The flower in question is "Rey", a new variety that has been put on the market recently. It is bred by Israeli breeder Nir Nursery, grown by three Israeli farms anddistributed exclusively across the globe as an Aviv-Harmonie flower.

Rey is a new intergeneric cross between chamelaucium and verticordia has recently been put on the market. According to Lhermann, this variety is completely different to a wax flower; "the branch structures, leaves and flowers are completely different from what many probably know for a wax flower", says Lhermann. The flower is big with a fuchsia pink color and the flowers last for about 2 to 3 months.

Rey is grown at three Israeli farms; Shine Wax Farm, Ronen and Saidi's farm.
