Mexico keen to strengthen trade, investment ties with Ethiopia

Ethiopia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aklilu Hailemichael conferred with Mexico’s Director General for Africa and Middle East, Ambassador Jorge Alvarez Feuntes.

Ambassador Jorge Alvarez Feuntes said his government is keen to enhance bilateral relations and further collaborate with Ethiopia in areas of trade, investment, agriculture and other areas of mutual interest.

The Ambassador said Mexico would also like to reinforce its bilateral relationship with Ethiopia by offering scholarship opportunity, sharing experience on Diaspora mobilization and creating a venue for political consultation.

He further expressed Mexico’s strong interest to reach the whole of the Africa through Ethiopia.

State Minister Dr. Aklilu Hailemichael described the close and enduring partnership between Ethiopia and Mexico as exemplary, particularly as the two countries have had converging views on a wide spectrum of issues.

Highlighting on the importance of investment FDI, Dr. Aklilu noted Ethiopia’s fast economic growth, peace and stability, the significant tax incentives, the huge domestic market and international market access, and trained and abundant labor force.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Minister encouraged Mexican companies to invest in Ethiopia.
