UK: Hillier goes for Goldrush on Chelsea Flower Show

Hydrangea aspera Goldrush ('Giel'PBR) is exclusively introduced at the Chelsea Flower Show 2018 by Hillier. Hillier has a record number of gold medals won in earlier editions of the Chelsea "New Plant Competition" so the expectations are high.

The Goldrush is a new addition to the range. In the spring, the foliage of Goldrush has gold and orange colours. The leaves then changes in golden yellow and green during the summer. Goldrush flowers in summer with beautiful purple with white flowers and becomes approx. 1.50 – 2.00 m tall and 1.00 m wide. Goldrush prefers a place in the sun in a moist but well-drained soil. Goldrush is great in shrub borders, in mixed containers and as a solitary on balcony or terrace. This hardy Hydrangea aspera is also easy to propagate.

The breeder is Boomkwekerij Coonen and the management is conducted by Plantipp BV. Both parties are confident that with all these fantastic properties, Hydrangea Goldrush is a winner!
