Australia: Floriade flower festival features pop culture theme

The Floriade flower festival takes place in Canberra’s Commonwealth Park from September 15 to October 14, and will focus on delivering an exciting, diverse and innovative program.

There will be stalls for sampling the best local produce from growers in Canberra and the surrounding region, and children’s entertainment at KidzKlub. Sunday afternoons include picnics and Jazz in the Park with special guest Emma Pask. There will be workshops at The Greenhouse interactive space suitable for both aspiring gardeners and established green thumbs alike, as well Floriade’s ticketed after-dark experience, NightFest, back by popular demand.

Festival-goers will see an array of retro-inspired flowerbeds showcasing some of the 20th Century’s most iconic figures in music, film, literature and social media. With something for everyone, people can expect Marilyn Monroe and Ken Done inspired creations alongside beds dedicated to Grug, the Rubik’s Cube and what’s sure to be a crowd favourite, Where’s Wally.
