UK: Hardy nursery stock substrate and nutrition workshop

AHDB Horticulture is one of several organisations currently funding two research projects examining future potential substrate blends and ways of monitoring nutrient levels in container-grown plant production.

As part of CP 138 ‘Transition to responsibly sourced growing media use within UK horticulture’, a model has been created which is capable of predicting growing media performance based on the raw materials used to create it.

Within HNS 193 ‘Nutrient management in hardy nursery stock’, equipment and techniques which have potential for ‘real time’ nutrient monitoring on nurseries are being reviewed.

The workshop provides the opportunity for attendees to hear the latest results, developments and practical implications from both projects.
