NP Plastics now supplies ‘green’ label stakes

Netherlands-based injection molder NP Plastics, a manufacturer of, among other things, a broad range of horticultural supplies such as label clips, clamps and display stakes, announced today that going forward, it will be producing all its plant label stakes from 100% recycled plastic. In this way, the NP Plastics aims to support its customers in achieving their environmental goals by reducing their carbon footprint, as well as to contribute to the “greening” of the supply chain.

Switching to materials with a lower environmental impact will not only help to reduce the CO2 emissions associated with the product, using recycled plastic also means that less oil and energy is needed to produce the plastic used by the company to manufacture its label stakes and other products. Moreover, recycling plastics keeps these materials out of landfills, allowing them to be reused in new products, such as in NP Plastics’ label stakes. Using recycled material also presents customers with an environmentally sensible solution, without the disadvantages seen with the use of wooden alternatives, which are susceptible to rotting.

By opting for label stakes made from recycled plastic, NP Plastics is offering customers a tangible opportunity to address their environmental impact, as well to promote a change in perception of their business in the market. In addition, as legislation on plastic waste tightens, choosing products made from recycled materials helps customers prepare for compliance with future legal and regulatory measures.

Next to producing the complete range of models from 100% recycled plastic, NP Plastics will also maintain its longstanding policy of supplying all its label stakes in any color desired by the customer, including natural. As the default color of recycled plastic is black, however, stakes produced in this color will be slightly lower priced compared to virgin material.

Daan Hogewoning, managing director NP Plastics comments: “We welcome the chance to collaborate with our customers on working towards a more responsible resource use. The decision to switch to 100% recycled materials to produce our label stakes also fits within our overall environmental goals. At NP Plastics, our innovations are guided by the principles of sustainability - without losing sight of the price benefits for our customers. We are proud to be able to offer a complete range of top-quality products that reaffirms our and our customers’ commitment to environmentally responsible practices and products.”
